Nice work.  Keep us posted on the outcome of the submitted patches.
The Makefile option NO_ST_BLOCKS_IN_STRUCT_STAT is now in master, for the hardlinks issue I have posted a new patch:

Just realized now that a slight variation of above patch is in git.git master already now, so that 1.6.1 will be buildable by specifying appropriate Makefile variables.

Still ahead (but less important) is adding a Haiku section to the Makefile so that the non-path options are set automatically.
