[bcbirdclub] Purple Finch or Hybrid?

Hi All,
An unusual finch appeared in the yard today here on the mountain. It has all of
the markings of a female Purple Finch, but its head shape and slimmer body
shape suggest a House Finch. Could it possibly be a hybrid, a cross between a
Purple Finch and a House Finch? I have my own ideas, but I'd like to hear what
others have to say. There have been only two other records for Purple Finches
here in September and neither was as early as this one.
