Jerry,
Sighted an adult Bald Eagle snagging a fish from the Clinch River below St.
Paul in the Orchard Hill area in late August of 2007. Believe Frank Kilgore
has confirmed sighting a few in that area as well, so you may wish to check
with him too.
Richard

Here's an e-mail I got this morning from Jennifer Meade. As you can see,
she's the principal at Dungannon Intermediate School. If you don't know,
Dungannon is about 15 miles from Castlewood on Route 65. It's right on the
Clinch River. Further communication with Jennifer reveals that she has seen
Bald Eagles along the Clinch in the summer. Perhaps there is a nest somewhere
in the vicinity. Perhaps we can do a paddle trip in the spring to look. If
anybody has more information about reporting sightings to the DGIF, please
respond to the list for general information purposes and to Jennifer directly
(since she's not on the list yet).

  Jerry

During this school year, we have confirmed sightings of an adult bald eagle
soaring over Dungannon VA. Additionally, I have attached a photo of an adult
sitting in a sycamore tree on the bank of the Clinch River-taken in early
December one frosty morning.---approx ¼ mile from the school toward Hanging
Rock on Hwy 72---.

Again this fall similar to last fall, we did see a large bird-possible
juvenile bald flying over the school yard. Various people in the community
call me from time to time to tell me of adult bald eagle sightings. (Lots of
folks in the community know I enjoy photography-and I have talked to numerous
people to request permission to take pics at their property).

Have you had any information regarding additional Dungannon bald eagle
sightings? Are bald eagle sightings supposed to be reported to any Virginia
wildlife organization?
