Hi George:

I have removed the drive from the machine, and accessing it using an IDE-USB
converter on an XP machine.

Are you able to get into the system using the 98 hard drive
at the moment, or is it sitting there asking you to enter
the code?

A product like Belarc Advisor will possibly tell you, but it
does need to see the drive to get details.

Failing that, it may be on a sticker on the case.

Failing that, do you have any CD's which came with it?

George.

Subject: [bcab] windows product code retrieval

All:
A catastrophic power supply failure on a Windows 98 machine
destroyed it
pretty well but the hard drive is fine.
I cannot find my product code for the Windows 98 o/s.

A. can anyone let me know how to find this?
Or
B. as this version is no longer supported, is their a
generic one?

TIA

David
