[bcab] Re: value added jaws: was Re: select entire current page in Word.

MessageHi Graham

Just for the record, The J-Days functionality has been incorporated into
J-Tools rather than having a separate product exactly for the reason you gave -
to keep the cost down. However, what I would encourage you to do later today
is to go to our blog at
http://tandtconsultancy.wordpress.com
and get the podcast we will be posting regarding J-Tools. Other people also on
this list may like to visit the blog regularly because there are lots of
interesting articles up there containing presentations from a variety of
companies and it is all free!

yes Brian I do indeed remember that facility and will look out for J-Tools.

It is a shame that FS will not give you a wack of money for such programs so
they can include them with JAWS. I apreciate that this would require you to be
given a fair bit of money for the development time you put in.

I do however resent having to keep paying for access when I have already
payed for a screenreader so I would need convincing of the extra benefits of
J-tools so will need to take a closer look when the product is released. This
is not aimed as a criticism of you charging for these kind of products, J-Days,
J-tunes, J-tools etc. The price is not over tthe top and you need to make a
living. Still, with other products getting scripting languages, paying people
to produce value added products like this would be a way of FS staying ahead of
the crowd, which they probably are owing to the maturity of the scripting
language. This would be a far more positive aproach for FS, rather than suing
competetors over patent breaches.

  Cheers

  Graham

Of course when our J-Tools product is released in a few weeks everyone will
be able to select text far easier. You will just mark the start point of the
text you want to select, then using the native arrow keys move to the end
point, press another keystroke and the text between the two points is selected.
It's a bit like the old method of blocking text in Wordperfect for DOS, does
anyone remember that? This is just one thing J-tools for jaws will do, so
Graham you will definitely be able to select a page that way.

        It works for me Graham.

        You could use:

        Control a if you prefer.

Surely, this would select the current paragraph.

            Graham,

From the top of the page:

Control shift down-arrow followed by control c to copy to the
clipboard.

            Matty.

              Hi all.

Definitely showing my ignorance again concerning Microsoft Word,
but does anyone know how you go about selecting the entire contents of the
current page in a document? I know that shift page down will select the
current screenfull of information, but not sure how to select a page.

I thought shift control page down might select the current page
and move to the next page but it seems not. If I turn extended select on with
F8 and do control page down extended selection mode is turned off and nothing
is selected.

              Regards

              Graham.
