Hello Simon
I have bought scanners from BMI Solutions and been quite happy - they have a
good range and after sales service. Website is: http://www.bmisolutions.co.uk/
Resolution for OCR need not really be much above 400 dpi for normal print - to
600 dpi for really small (4pt) print. Higher resoolutions often seem less
accurate.

Subject: [bcab] scanner recommendation please!
hello list,
I am considering a new scanner, and am looking for something really top of
the range, with the highest resolution possible, but can't find an easy way to
get at that info, with out going through all the details of god only knows how
many scanners, to find what I am looking for.
it should work under XP, be USB, and able to work with a scanning program,
such as k1000. price is no object.
so please does anyone know of any sites, where I could easily find that info,
such as being able to filter out all the scanners with lower resolutions,
leaving only the higher resolution ones, or have any scanner recommendations?
