Simon,
I have used Opticbook 3600 for the last couple of years, and once I
realised, thanks to this list, that it was equipped with a crap OCR, and
added ABBYY Fine Reader version 8 to it, it works like a little charm.
It is fast and accurate. It was, I think, about £170 when I got it from
Data Mind.

Subject: [bcab] scanner recommendation please!
hello list,
I am considering a new scanner, and am looking for something really top
of the range, with the highest resolution possible, but can't find an
easy way to get at that info, with out going through all the details of
god only knows how many scanners, to find what I am looking for.
it should work under XP, be USB, and able to work with a scanning
program, such as k1000. price is no object.
so please does anyone know of any sites, where I could easily find that
info, such as being able to filter out all the scanners with lower
resolutions, leaving only the higher resolution ones, or have any
scanner recommendations?
