[bcab] Re: scanner recommendation please!

I want to put in a second pitch for the OpticBook 3600. I scan as a
volunteer for BookShare and have been doing this for about 5 years.
Prior to that I scanned for my own needs. The OpticBook working with
either FineReader version 7 or K1000 scans a page in both one-page
mode or two-page mode in about 15-17 seconds. The scan itself takes
only about 10-12 seconds which leaves plenty of time to turn the page
without having to add in any seconds for a pause between scans. It's
resolution goes up to 600 which is pretty standard and I scan most
print on 300, using the higher resolutions occasionally for smaller
print or something that is graphic intensive. It also has the feature
that allows you to place a book at the center crease right on the edge
of the scanning bed which is priceless for scanning some books. I've
been using mine for about a year now and love it. It cost about $230
US and I bought it from an Amazon.com partner, Tiger Direct.

Good luck. The right scanner is worth any effort you have to expend to find it.
