Hi Tom, and All,

BCAB is running a workshop on GPS and Satnav on Saturday 10 May in London. I think there would still be places available, at £10.00 more details on the BCAB website.

It's for anyone interested, from experienced users who can share their experiences to people new to GPS.

I've used three different systems over the past five years or so and hardly ever leave home without it. The freedom of knowing you can get where you need to go even when there's no help around, including previously impossible settings like wide open camp-sites, the beach, not to mention Birmingham...

As for latest news, Steve mentioned Wayfinder Access, which is a great system adapted from the mainstream Wayfinder which will run on mobiles with Talks or MobileSpeak. A new version of Trekker from Humanware is due out soon, which runs on talking PDA's, and the top-of-the-range Sendero GPS runs on the Braillenote and Braille-sense note-takers, with a Windows-Mobile version coming soon.

To me it's one of the most liberating and truly useful technologies that actually lives up to its promise.

HTH,

Peter

Anybody know of the latest developments here for Blind people and just as important, anybody using sat nav successfully, ie to their own satisfaction?
