Simon, I'm confused, if each of the computers is connecting to the
internet via an ethernet cable then pressumably they are all connecting
to the one router?
in which case they are a network.
install a printer to one machine  and set it up as a shared printer and
you can print to it from any of the machnes as long as the hoste
machine, that is the one to which the printer is physicly connected is
switched on.  The alternative is to use a network printer, one which can
be plugged directly in to the router via an ethernet cable, this way you
can print directly to it from any machine on the network.
 
or are you saying that you have one network cable which you move from
machine to machine depending on which one you are using?

hello list, 
please does anyone know if there is a bit of hardware out there that
will let me connect the same printer up to more than 1 computer, but
with out needing the computers to be a network? 
I don't have the space to have a printer by all 4 computers here, and
need to use there Ethernet ports to get them on broadband internet, so
can't network them either as they only have 1 Ethernet port each.
