Hello Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself and to tell you a bit about me.
First of all, I was called Ayesha when I was born, it is on my birth
certificate and my health documents and passport and stuff, but some priest
told my parents to call me Puja because he thought it would help me regain my
sight so that was my nickname and what I was called until I was 18 when I
decided I didn’t like the name, it hadn’t helped my sight improve and that it
made life confusing in medical situations and at the airport, so I insisted on
being called Ayesha from then on, so that’s how I introduce myself, so my name
is Ayesha Bhatia though if you knew me during school, you would have known me
as Puja Bhatia because I didn’t change my name until half-way through year 13.
My name, or rather, nickname, used to be Puja Bhatia, but please do not ever
use that name since I never ever answer to it any more, it’s an identity I got
rid of years ago.
My name is Ayesha Bhatia, I am blind, female, single and have been for years
never having had a serious relationship with anyone, in my 20s and usually live
in the UK though at the moment, due to family difficulties, I am staying in
India with my parents.
I am single and some say, very attractive, though I’m not sure about that. I
have reasonably thick wavy hair down to my shoulders which is dark brown though
some argue that it is black, dark brown eyes, am about five feet five inches or
161 ccentimetres tall and I am of a slim build – so I am told – weighing in at
about 55 killogrammes or so.
I went to Robbinsfield Nursery And Infant’s School from I think January 1986 or
something, before that I tried a different nursery which I and my family didn’t
like, to july 1989 where I did kinddergarden or KG and years one and two, then
I went to Barrow Hill Juniur School from September 1989 to july 1993 where I
did years 3 4 5 and 6, then I went to RNIB New College Worcester from September
1993 to july 2001 where I repeated year 6 again and went on to do years 7 8 9
10 11 12 and 13 which is the end of school in the UK which is where I studied
for my entire educational life.
I then went on to Roehampton University from September 2001 to july 2006 where
I completed a BA Honours degree in English Literature. I took 5 years because I
was very ill and had to take 18 months off during my studies.
Then I returned to Roehamptom University from September 2006 to july 2009 to do
a Post Graduate Certificate In Children’s Literature.
I have many other interests, and, unknown to my family, \I am also attempting –
though it may take me several years to complete them – to do the following
courses through distance learning. Fortunately, there is no time limit on them
so I can take as long as I like.
I am sure I will do more of them, so be on the look-out, this list will
increase. Each item on the list below is a separate course.

There are plenty of other courses where these came from, and all the
organizations/people cater for students worldwide, so do check them out!!!
Once I have done these courses, I will be fully lisenced to practice in these
areas, so you never know, I might become a therapist, a writer, a teacher, with
so many courses and such limitless possibilities, you never know!!!
My favourite pastime in this world is reading and I am a member of the RNIB
talking book service as well as the national library service, caliber library
and the torch trust for the blind.
Other good places to buy books are from America or Canada, and from such sites
as:
www.amazon.co.uk
www.amazon.com
www.audible.co.uk
www.audible.com
www.bookshare.org
www.bookshare.org.uk
www.talkingbooks.comm
If you ask for Frances, the owner of The Talking Book Shop on Baker Street in
London – that last one was the link to the site – that you are a friend of
mine, you’ll get even better service than usual as she is a good friend of mine.
If anyone knows of any other good places, shops, sites, mail order places,
where I can buy good quality, unabridged books which are on cassette or cd, or
which I can download and burn easily on to CD, then please please please let me
know.
If I started up another company which specialized in just producing unabridged
audio books of excellent quality at reasonable prices, would any of you buy
from my company?
Which types of books, authors, titles, categories, would you like to see
produced that are
NOT
Currently available in an accessible audio format?
Any suggestions welcome, please post them to the list or email me at:
www.thebookworm1982@xxxxxxxxxxx
with your suggestions for titles and any other services you would like your
ideal audio book supplier to provide.
I aim to please after all!!!
I love all sorts of books from crime fiction to cookery, from paranormal
phenomena to parenting, from family sagas to fantasy … all sorts of things
really!!!
As well as reading then, which you can see is my life, I am really interested
in all sorts of things including gathering information about all the mainstream
– and not so mainstream – religions, faiths, spiritual paths, practices,
mysteries, beliefs etc of the world, paranormal phenomena, herbal remedies,
kitchen witch recipes, everything and anything that is outside the box so to
speak, as well as the more mainstream and traditional religions, pastimes etc.
I had an impressive collection of bits and pieces about everything from
Christianity to recipes, from bath and beauty recipes to gosts and from
paranormal phenomena to herbalism, from paganism and other spiritual paths and
practices and religions to stuff about science, books, astronomy etc but have
lost all of it due to the fact that my laptop corrupted itself.
If anyone has interesting articles, recipes, remedies, bits and pieces of
information about any religion, spiritual path, beauty products, natural
remedies
and recipies, magic, herbalism, stuff about various disabilities, recovery
information from any type of trauma or abuse or substance abuse which might
help people, feminism, women’s rights, mysteries, various types of therapies,
psychology, soul and spirit, various types of yoga and meditation, anything in
short that you might have information about.
I am also interested in technology for the blind, I am a jaws user and I
obviously use the computer and the internet, so that’s another pastime of mine,
learning about jaws, computers and access in general for those with visual
impairments and other disabilities, to everything from cookery to computers,
from products to phones,
from television to travel brochures.
So if you have
ANY
Information at all that you could send me:
Please send me each document as a
.doc
Or
Word 1997-2003
Document.
Please send these as attachments labeled with the proper titles so I can just
download them and save them to my laptop.
Please send as much as you can because I had over 10000 files and have lost
everything I possessed on a very wide variety of subjects and I would like to
start collecting information again.
Please send everything to:
Thebookworm1982@xxxxxxxxxxx
I would be most grateful indeed for any help you can give me, and for any
information, on whatever subject, that you might have.
If anyone is interested, I have a yahoo group for people with disabilities.
Please search for:
FriendsWithDisabilities
On the
“find a yahoo group”
Page
And subscribe from there.
If you wish to subscribe by email, then make sure you have a yahoo groups
account. If you wish for the emails to be sent to a different account, - I get
all of mine sent to my hotmail account, not my yahoo groups account, because I
have set up my yahoo groups account that way – then send a blank email from
whichever account you wish the group’s emails to come in to too:
FriendsWithDisabilities-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
And you can subscribe that way.
An email will be sent by Yahoo! Groups asking you to confirm the subscription
if you subscribe by email. Just send them a blank reply and then wait.
You should get files from the group.
Please read them and do as they ask, only then can I approve your membership.
Please, if you have a disability, feel free to join my group and to tell others
about it.
Please feel free to get in touch with me, especially if we knew each other at
school or university or from somewhere that is not just the internet.
If you know of anyone else who might have gone to school or university with me,
feel free to pass on my email address to them.
Then, whether they wish to get in touch or not is their choice, they have then
got the information if they wish to do so.
Please do get in touch, do join my group and do send me any files you can too:
Thebookworm1982@xxxxxxxxxxx
I hope to get to know you and to enjoy my time in your fantastic group.
Love and hugs to everyone
Ayesha x x x
