[bcab] ordering from argos

Hi all. 
Has anyone else had any recent problems with Argos? 
I ordered some products this week from Argos to be delivered today and was able 
to choose a time between 1 o'clock and 6 o'clock this afternoon but the
goods have not arrived. 
on closer inspection of the email confirming the order there is no date for 
delivery and it says if there is not a date someone will be in touch to arrange
a time. 
I am a little concerned that this can't all be done in real time online.  If 
you choose a delivery time then your orders should be delivered within that
time and you should get a considerable discount if they are not.  After placing 
my order I was advised that it had been passed to their team for processing. 
after waiting in a 25 minute queue to speak to someone on the phone I got 
through to someone who said they would transfer me to the currier.  The currier
of course has tracking numbers not argos numbers and the currier does not know 
for sure when the parcel will be there. The guy I spoke to did give me a 
tracking number.  I am now on the phone to them again and if I get someone 
trying to do the same thing I will ask to speak to a manager.


I suppose what I'm saying is be careful of argos and don't rely on them to 
deliver when they say they will.  Their ordering service is clearly 
oversubscribed. 
I suppose we are going to be told next that the company did not anticipate the 
amount of orders that it would get. 

while waiting On the phone there was a recorded message stating that some areas 
of the country including Ipswitch and Gatwick had problems with delivery of 
parcels and they would be there sometime in the
next 48 hours.  Not good if you take the day off work specifically to collect a 
parcel. 
If they can't deliver when they say they will they may as well scrap the 
delivery service altogether or else not quote a day an time on the site.
