Um don't they force their blind people to sell lottery tickets on street
corners so they can get benifits?

Dear Toshiaki Aomatsu,
My advice would be that you only need to look at one country, Spain, as
if you are blind then Spain is almost certainly the best country in the
world to be in.
Do a search for ONCE the Spanish blind organisation.

Subject: [bcab] inquiry from Japan
Dear friends,
I am a blind teacher at the National School for the
Blind in Japan. My colleagues and I are planning to visit
UK in this coming March to learn about the situation of ICT
for the visually impaired people in UK. If any one of you
has suggestions or recommendations as to where to visit, who
to meet, or any Websites to look at regarding the following
topics please inform me personally to my e-mail address or
in this mailing list.
After visiting UK, USA, Germany, and some other
countries, we will write a report to our government in order
to improve the situation of ICT for VIP in Japan. We also
develop a standardized trainers' guide for
teachers/instructors/trainers of ICT for VIP and VI
children.
TOPICS we are interested are as follows:
1. Are there any financial support from the government
to VIP to purchase assistive technology related items.
2. Are there any financial support from the government
to VIP to attend training courses of ICT.
3. How ICT lessons are taught to VI children in UK?
4. Who are teaching ICT to VI children?
5. What are the materials used to teach ICT for VI
children?
6. Are there any training courses for
trainers/teachers/instructors of ICT for VIP or VI children?
7. Are there any certificates or qualifications to
become trainers/teachers/instructors of ICT for VIP or VI
children?
8. Are there any financial support from the government
to companies who develop assistive technology related items?
9. How do VI children and VIP take tests and exams
(Key stage, A level, GNVQ, etc.) about ICT?
10. Are there any organizations/institutions/groups
who are dedicated to ICT for VIP? For example, developing
trainers' guide, tactile materials.
11. Are there any leading
schools/colleges/universities/LEA-VI-support-teams that are
models to other counterparts in teaching ICT for VIP and VI
children?
I would appreciate any piece of information regarding
the above topics.
