[bcab] Re: identifying processor in windows 2000

it should do, but being someone's work machine I am not allowed to install any
software on it.

thanks anyway.

what I was looking for maybe was a reference that explained these terms. havn't
been successful yet but need to do a higher quality search maybe.

cheers

Graham

  Hi Graham

I think Belarc Advisor will do what you want. When you run it, it scans your
machine and produces an HTML report of all components, software, etc. It's a
free utility from:

  Hi all.

I want to identify the processor used on a PC running Windows 2000.

if I right click My Computer and choose Properties from the context menu that
appears, I can find out from the system tab that the processor is a pentium and
it is family 6 stepping 8.
this is not helpful. in Windows XP I get the clock speed of the processor
and more information about the kind of processor. what does this Family 6
stepping 8 actually specify?

  Cheers
