Hi Graham,
Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com, which is free,
might just give you more information about the processor.
(And a whole raft of useful system information to boot.)
George.

Subject: [bcab] identifying processor in windows 2000
Hi all.
I want to identify the processor used on a PC running
Windows 2000.
if I right click My Computer and choose Properties from the
context menu that appears, I can find out from the system
tab that the processor is a pentium and it is family 6
stepping 8.
this is not helpful. in Windows XP I get the clock speed of
the processor and more information about the kind of
processor. what does this Family 6 stepping 8 actually
specify?
Cheers
Graham
