Hi Alexander,
Perhaps it's time to take another look at the manual. According to
Canon themselves, it has a USB connection. Perhaps you just need a
cable. The following is from their web page:
"Unrivalled connectivity - Parallel, Fast IrDA & USB interfaces
Compatible with Windows 95/98/ME/NT4.0/2000/XP, Mac OS and Windows CE
2.1 or later"
Trust me, a USB connection is a heck of a lot easier than phaffing
about with a USB to Serial converter!
George.

Subject: [bcab] help needed obtaining a serial to USB connectivity
cable
Hi all,
I am wanting to connect my Canon BJC85 printer to my .
However, the printer cable has a serial connection for which
I have a cable, but the cable ends in a Mail socket and my
computer does not have any serial ports, (all ports on this
machine are USB), so I am wondering if anyone can give me
any advice on where I might be able to obtain a cable with a
female serial socket at one end and the correct connection
for a USB port at the other.
Thank you in advance for any help, although I would like to
apologise to the moderators of both the lists to which I am
sending this message, as, although I am not cross posting
this message, I am intending to send it to both the BCAB and
Access-uk lists in order to obtain advice from as many
people as possible.
Alexander Shannon
