Subject: [bcab] call for participants
Hello,
My name is Dr Julie Castronovo, I work at the University of Leeds in
collaboration with the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium. I am
currently looking for blind people to take part in scientific experiments in
neurosciences, and more precisely in numerical cognition.
It's been 4 years now that I've been working on numerical cognition with
blind people. My aim was mainly to show scientifically that vision is not
necessary for people to elaborate numerical representations and abilities. My
previous experiments conducted on this issue have led to two scientific
publications in international journals on neurosciences. I've been doing my
research mainly in Belgium, where I come from. I moved to Leeds in April and I
am working now at the University of Leeds, where I am doing my post-doctoral
research. Therefore, I am looking for new English congenitally or early blind
people who would be keen on taking part in my experimental research. I'd like
to emphasize that my research are essentially behavioural and do not involve
intrusive or medical procedure. Moreover, participants get paid for their
participation (£6/hour).
To take part in the experiments, participants have to be congenitally or
early blind (lost of vision in early infancy) without other disabilities.
Participants will be asked to take part in very simple numerical tasks. The
experiments will be held at the University of Leeds. However, if required I can
come to participant's place in order to run the experiments.
If you have any questions regarding my research or want to get further
information about my scientific published papers before taking part in my
project, do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you very much in advance for the attention paid to my request. I am
looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards,
Julie
