[bcab] Re: Word 2007

Hi George. This is interesting because a colleague of mine who is fully
sighted used to use Office 2003 and has now moved to office 2007 and he says
he much prefers it so it would be interesting to see what the general
consensus is, if indeed there turns out to be one. I will ask a few other
people I think may have used Office 2007 to see what they think of it.

Regards

Graham

Hi Léonie,

Please don't take this the wrong way, but Word 2007 is so
visually different, sighted people would not find what you
describe. Yet ironically, many of the keystrokes you use on
a daily basis work.

As a sighted user, I am becoming more and more frustrated
with Office 2007. Just today I had to go down to my office
to an Office 2003 system to sort out someone's document
table of contents and formatting. I simply could not do what
I wanted in 2007 because everything has moved around so much
what with these stupid ribbons which, contrary to what M$
says, take up way too much screen real estate.

I will really have to get myself some one to one training
from somewhere.

George.

Richard,

When they save the file, ask them to look in the
Save File As, box.
There will be an option for Word 97 - 2003. This is the drop
down box you
reach by tabbing once from the File Name box that you're
focused on when the
Save dialogue box opens. It's exactly the same if they
choose the Save Copy
As option from the File menu, or the Save option.

Regards,
Léonie.

Hi Folks,

A couple of people who need to send me files have changed
over to Word 2007
and send files with docx.

I believe that as with earlier versions of word there is the
option to use
other file types, but I don't know how to help them find the
right option
list.

These are mainly sighted people, so if someone could let me
have info on the
instructions to follow, I can pass this on to them.

Please reply off list if you think this is a bit off topic.

Thanks.

Richard
