Hi Tony and Nick and thanks for responses so far. I've tried entering new smtp
adress in a servers tab in accounts in OE Tony but I guess I haven't done it
right because I still can't send outgoing mail and when I hit control m I get a
message saying connecting to pop.freeserve.com
I also now get a dialogue asking for my friend's BT user name and password and
although I've got these right this window just keeps cycling round. I can hit
cancel or escape and get out of it but the original problem remains. Why do I
need to enter his smtp address in OE's settings though? I can access his
connection just with his wep pass key.
I'm starting to suspect that this issue is unresolvable while I still have a
dial up account only and that I'll never be able to send using any kind of
broadband connnection while this is still the case. I'm interpreting what Nick
said to meaning maybe that although I can reach Orange's server and collect
mail, I'm not actually connected as far as Orange is concerned because I have a
dialup account in OE. OE shows a socket error when outgoing mail has failed to
go.
Any thoughts welcome.
Regards
Tim Gebbels
