What Kerry said about the system tray won't work with balloons, because they
are not always there.
 
With JAWS 8 and below, you can't do anything, because JAWS never had the
feature.  With JAWS 9 however, they have implemented the feature.  As soon
as you hear the balloon in JAWS 9, just hit left click on the num pad, and
the balloon will be clicked.
 
You can get your hands on this feature now if you download 9 Public Beta.
 
If you are using Window-Eyes, this has had the feature for a long time.  You
can just route mouse to tooltip (Ins-Plus twice on the numpad), and left
click.

Hi all,
 
can somebody tell me whether there is an accessible way of dealing with
balloons when they pop up on your screen?  These are the ones which announce
themselves with a "pop", and say things like: "You have unused items on your
desktop.  Desk clean-up wizard can clean up your desktop. Click this balloon
to activate".  I haven't found anyway of locating the balloon with Jaws, or
finding out whether the balloon will disappear if I don't act within a short
space of time.  These are particularly irksome when they pop up at home,
telling me that something found by AVG needs attention.
