Hi Clive the balloons appear in the system tray, however they are so momentary
that they are
difficult to catch. The normal jaws shortcut for the system try list is
Insert F11. But I am told
you can use Windows key B as well.
If it's any help the "desktop cleanup wizard" you mentioned, can be turned off.
Firstly go into control panel, display. Then press shift tab then right arrow
to get to the
desktop tab.
Then press ALT D for the customise desktop button, then lastly ALT U to toggle
the checkbox to
unchecked, for "run desktop cleanup wizard every 60 days". 2 OK buttons in a
row then it should be
sorted.
Also if it's any help you can also turn off windows security center
notifications for live updates,
firewall and virus warnings. Another source of the balloons.
To do this go into control panel, security center. Press tab once till you
hear "get the latest
security and virus information". then down arrow 4 times till you hear "change
the way security
center alerts me" and press enter. in the "alert settings" dialog box which
ensues there are 3
check boxes, you can turn off
notification for any of these 3 that you wish to, to stop security center
alerts for that item. I
normally at least uncheck virus, because my virus program tells me itself when
it needs updating & I
don't need Microsoft telling me as well, via balloon!
Anyway hope this is helpful & good luck.

Hi all,
can somebody tell me whether there is an accessible way of dealing with
balloons when they pop up on your screen? These are the ones which
announce themselves with a "pop", and say things like: "You have unused
items on your desktop. Desk clean-up wizard can clean up your desktop.
Click this balloon to activate". I haven't found anyway of locating the
balloon with Jaws, or finding out whether the balloon will disappear if
I don't act within a short space of time. These are particularly
irksome when they pop up at home, telling me that something found by AVG
needs attention.
Thanks,
Clive
