Thank you Vince. Well I use the laptop in another part of the house plugged
in, if out of house in garden on battery. I bought it originally hoping I
might be able to take it with me if I could get around. That has not been
possible as I have until last weekend been housebound. Last weekend had to
get to a special ceremony near Chichester, was lucky to be taken. so it is
the first time I have left alone for a few days. Outside I can use it as I
do the desktop, in a small summerhouse, it makes me feel less trapped. Also
when I had the Hardrive failure I realised that although I had not backed
up, on floppy or CD the laptop did have stuff copied over to it. I think
Export and import but also a friend did something called 'burn to disc' and
loaded it on I also have Kurzweil on it and all my folders. I think however
I shall have to learn to back up all on desktop. I have not ever been shown
how to do that you see. I suppose I could try phoning Freeserve. but now
you get a floaty call centre in India. However I could ask. I imagine only
imagine the question to ask would be something like how long do you hold
them? Hang on I have just remembered something. I think I recall Steve
Dryden on Jaws list saying to someone remember if you have a Wireless
connection emails are not stored on the computer but elsewhere something to
do with the Wireless, so if they are not stored on the computer but on the
server. Phew, sorry whilst typing this to you I have been thinking hard.
Well that question I think has an answer, maybe I can tell my ISp to hold
them longer before deleting. In any case I want to leave Freeserve now I am
not under contract I am thinking of Plusnet. Which Magazine which I get from
TNAUK for August said for Broadband the top three are
1 Zen. monthly contract
2 Global International
3 Waitrose. The last 2 you have to sign for a year contract. Waitrose
was praised as it has a Free Technical line. I will have to ask for Which
said a MAC Code migration. Sounds a bit daunting for a VIP but Freeserve is
not popular with other ISP's Any ideas Zen I have not heard of Dorothy.
