This also may help. I have just set someone's computer up with Norton Ghost
version 12, combined
with a Maxtor external USB hard drive with "one touch backup" feature.
Firstly the installation of the software including updating was fully
accessible.
Secondly, Norton are aware of the Maxtor one-touch backup option and Ghost can
be configured
to automatically do a new image backup, on pressing the drive's one touch
button.
Thirdly the creation of a recovery boot CD, which I believe was only introduced
from Ghost version
12 onwards, was also fully accessible.
Now for image restoration. To choose do do a restore is in itself accessible.
Place the recovery
CD in the drive, ensure the USB Drive where the image is located is connected.
Choose "recover
computer"
from within the software, then sit and wait.
Catch 1: There is no speech access during the restore process, whilst Windows
is unloaded, the image
restored, then the PC restarted. (despite this it happens automatically and
usually takes minutes
to complete)
Catch 2: The PC on which all this is done, needs to have it's bios set to boot
to CD, if it hasn't
already. And at a crucial stage of the boot up, a DOS screen dialog appears
saying "press any key
to boot to CD", if totally blind you would have to hazard a guess as to when
this dialog was present
on screen.
The scary moment of course, is doing the first restore. But following a few
test runs the person
who I set this up for is now confident of restoring their PC at any time within
10 minutes. All he
needs to know technically is:-
Press "one touch" button, hit spacebar on ghosts "yes" button, to backup.
Insert recovery CD, choose recover, then wait for the reboot, to restore.
Simple! This included about 15Gb of data on his C drive and 4Gb on the D
drive, in one hit.
* A maxtor 200Gb external USB Drive with One Touch, can be bought for about £50.
* Norton Ghost version 12 can be bought for about £35 online.
I can set this up on site for anyone in the South East region, at very
economical rates!
Hope this is helpful information. Leon Gilbert.

Hello Barry
This may help. I've just used XXCLONE to image and restore a system disk
which it did without hassle. Here the task was local not remote (I installed
a larger slave, imaged, made it bootable, powered down, swapped in the new
drive - now have bigger system drive). Have just found out it only works
locally.
Regards
Tony
