[bcab] Re: The latest version of Diskkeeper is taking ages to defragment a 16GB hard drive, should it take this long?

Hi Tom,

As you will see from another message, I have already replied to Phil.

How can I actually check the free space in terms of percentage relative to the size of the disk please? As when I look in Disk keeper, I am told that each partition has just over 17GB, yet in My Computer, each partition shows up as just over 16GB.

I think I am ending up reading the free space figure in most cases, as the amount to be defragmented is, as far as I can see, not shown when a partition is highlighted, but I will take your advice and check the properties of each partition. Thank you for the tip on checking the properties. Is this done with Disk Keeper running?

As to automatic versus manual defragmenting with Disk Keeper, I tried to set automatic, but I am not certain how to set it to continuously defragment on a permanent basis, therefore, I use manual defragmentation. I can see with my limited sight that their are parts showing up as being coloured red after the C: partition has been analysed, and looking at the colour key, it seems that red stands for unfragmented files, therefore, I intend to at least get to a stage where there is no red showing on my C: partition if this is possible.

Thank you in advance for any further advice you can give me on this issue.
