[bcab] Re: The latest version of Diskkeeper is taking ages to defragment a 16GB hard drive, should it take this long?

Hi Phil,

Thank you for your reply to my message.

As to other processes running in the background, generally I try to only leave my screen reading/magnification program running when I wish to defrag, but, knowing that I have a split hard drive, I sometimes defragment the C partition while accessing e-mails on the D partition, could this be a reason for slower defragmentation?

I am not sure myself why the percentage decreases rather than increases, I can only suggest that this occurs because the percentage is measured in free space rather than used space.

The reason I thought I could use the computer continuously while defragmenting, was that I was told by a Disk Keeper user, that this is what disk keeper is capable of, but I may have misinterpreted their meaning, and it may be that disk keeper can only run in the background when in automatic defragmentation mode.
