Hi Barry, Here are the answers to your e-mail.1. I was watching the screen as it started and thought I saw references to D:\ and then a few screens later, I saw references to C:\ and from then on, I recognised exactly what the system was doing, as what it did after my seeing references to C:\ was exactly what I had seen it do when I had defragmented C:\:\ on its own.
As I said above, I watched the screen during the beginning of the process.As to log creation, when I wish to set up a log, the system defaults to a:\ for the drive it wants to use to store the log, and up until a month or so back, I did not have an a:\ of my own, as this laptop does not have a floppy drive. I think I will attach my USB floppy drive and let the logs be created on a spare floppy if you think a floppy disk or two could hold them.
2. Thank you for clarifying that defragmentation does not effect free space.
