Alexander, I'm a bit confused here. 1. How do you know it started on D but didn't' complete and shoot off to C without rebooting? Did you or somebody see the screen outside of Windows or did you just not hear it reboot? NB. Tell DK to create a log, have it push the d drives defrag log to c and vice versa. The log will appear in the route of the drive. 2. Defragging does not effect free space. Hi Barry, I've tried setting both drives to boot time defrag, and with my screen reading/magnification program, Supernova, set so that I have to get to the desktop before invoking it, I managed to run through a boot time defrag that looked as if it started at D:\ then went on to C:\ without rebooting and then rebooted after completing the c:\. My only question now is that the percentage of free space on D:\ has changed from 71% to 69%, however the free space on c:\ is still at 35%, considering that it looks as if the c:\ partition is set to auto defrag, and that I have done what I believe is a boot time defrag to both partitions, I wonder why c:\ is still showing up as having 35% free space? Do you have any ideas please?
