Hi George:
On my US keyboard layout, shift 3 is the Octathorpe which is like
an equals sign with two oblique strokes through it. Sometimes
used to denote pounds or as a prefix to a number.
E. G.
123 German Street #702,
St. James,
London.
I entered the 156 extended character by turning on numb lock and
using alt and the 1-5-6 keys on the numeric keypad.
When I read the character that had been created, Jaws said 163 as
the character code and Pounds like this: £5.
However if I try to enter a 163 extended character I get: ú which
Jaws says is a U-acute!
Very interesting.
On my BrailleNote, it doesn't list the Pounds Sterling sign in
its Unicode currency symbols table!
But they list many now obsolete currency symbols because the
various countries have adopted the European Currency Unit as
their national currency.
Well its getting late. Take care.
Brian
