Subject: [bcab] [Possibly OT but Knowledgeable Comments needed] Accessibility of New Web Site - Bury Blind Society

**A Message similar to this one has been or will shortly be posted also to ACCESS-UK, AVIOS, and NFBUK

22nd February, 2009.

Dear BCAB Lister,

A Kind Sighted Volunteer who has no Previous Knowledge of Computer Use by Blind and Partially Sighted People has been beavering on over the past few months updating the Web Site of Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People of which I am a Director.

He his now coming to the end of his work and would like some 'Feedback' on the New Site, especially its Accessibility to Blind and Partially Sighted People. I am Totally Blind and rely on Dolphin HAL v10.02 to access the Internet under Speech whereas the other three Blind Directors have sufficient Residual Sight to rely on their eyes, assisted sometimes by the Microsoft Accessibility Enlarging Facility, for looking at Web Sites which means that we can give only limited Feedback/Support in these 'Final Stages'. Accordingly, it would be most helpful if one or two of you out there could spare a few minutes to have a look at the New Site and let me have your Comments/Advice so that I can bring it together so that the four of us Blind Directors can discuss this Information with him and help him in finalising the Site to have as good as possible Accessibility to Blind and Partially Sighted People whilst maintaining a 'Good Visual Impact'.

The Site URL is HTTP://www.buryblindsociety.org/home - the URL HTTP://www.buryblindsociety.org takes you only to a Holding Page saying that
the Site is being updated and does not have any Links to the New Site.

Anyone wishing to comment Off List can use blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where I have set up a Folder specifically to receive such Comments.

Any help which can be given will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation,

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

KEITH ROTHWELL
