Hi all,
I sent a message on these lines to the list in 2006, but now that the
new album is out, and for some strange reason I got a Google Alert to
show that it has just been added to the web, (exclamation mark), I took
a look and thought it worth updating.
1. If you've got one already, think about buying further copies for
birthday
presents, or shop early for Christmas.
2. Play them to your mates and your colleagues, and get them to contact
BCAB
to get their copies. If any of your friends are off-line, write to me
off-list and I'll give you a phone number for them. If they need to pay
by credit card over the phone, then send them to Proper Records (see
BCAB site for details)..
3. Put notices on your intranet forums leading people to BCAB website.
4. Write requests to Sarah Kennedy on radio 2 (sarah.Kennedy at the
usual beeb address <mailto:sarah.Kennedy@xxxxxxxxx> )
5. Try to get a notice posted in your local church magazines. You can
write to me at tiscali for copy if you wish.
6. Write to your BBC local radio station with a request to hear a track.
7. Check whether your local Hospital radio station has copies, and point
them to BCAB to get them if they don't already have one. Request
airplay on
hospital radio when you visit people in hospital. Laughter, they say,
is
the best medicine.
8. If there's a folk club in your area, take time to visit it, and get
them
to plug the album. Les is very big in the folk world.
9. Let your voluntary association for the Blind know about them, and try
to
get an announcement put on your talking newspapers. Give them the
contact
details as shown on the BCAB website.
10. Join an email list where the albums would be relevant topics (such
as
poetry, comedy, folk music), and initiate discussion. When people start
talking about the albums, tell them how they can buy, and ask them to
put
requests in to radio stations as above.
...and one for luck:
Think about where you could get links to BCAB website posted on other
sites.
The obvious one of course is:
If you haven't got your copy of Top Cat, and have been thinking about
it, why not do it today.
Best,
Clive
