[bcab] Re: Supernova & PDF problems.

I do not use Supernova but if you send me an example of the relevant PDF off
list to d.griffith@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx I will be able to tell you if the
problem is with the PDF or not.
Some Pdf cannot be read by any access software no matter how advanced the
application which is why it is better generally to avoid using PDF.
Essentially some Pdf contain no text and instead rely upon graphical
representations of text, often because of "lazy" scanning without OCR
conversion.

If this is case the person making the pdf within the organisation needs to
amend their method of creating PDF.
Anyway if you send an example I can diagnose.

Graham,

It looks as though the problems remain with v11 also. The
organisation we're working with uses v9, so there would be significant
implications for a version upgrade.

If the case needs to be made, that shouldn't be a problem.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though v11 is the solution though.

One BCAB lister has contacted Dolphin on my behalf, so hopefully
we'll be able to shed some light on the problem soon.

Léonie.

Hi Léoni

First, is the problem solved or reduced with later versions of Supernova?

Most people would agree I think that Supernova has improved quite
significantly with new versions so it would be worth downloading a demo of
the latest version 11 of Supernova and testing with that.

Cheers

Afternoon,

At Nomensa we've been working with an organisation who report that
Supernova users are experiencing problems accessing certain PDF documents.
They're trying very hard to improve the accessibility of the PDFs, but
Supernova seems to be struggling.

If there are any Supernova users on list, especially anyone using
v9, I'd really appreciate your help. If you could drop me an email to
tink@xxxxxxxxxx, I can send you one of the PDFs in question.

With a little luck, we may be able to confirm the problem and
perhaps even find a cause. If we can, it would certainly help this
organisation to improve their internal PDFs for their staff. Thanks.

Léonie.
