Hello All
A new update version of SpeakOn has been released recently. It is available
free at:
http://www.a-technic.net/speakon.htm
This is an update release which includes:
Added control for system Volume and Balance from SpeakOn itself (there was
some discussion about this on the list before).
The Seeing Ear Library interface has been extended and improved.
The TNAUK interface which includes newspapers, magazines and guides (TV,
Radio, Satellite and Digital) has been improved.
Various bugs have been fixed.
For those who are interested, I have written a short article about the
motivation and working of SpeakOn which is located on the BCAB website at:
http://www.bcab.org.uk/articles/speakon.html
The article is a bit technical in parts and it is not a manual.
Last week, Aman recommended the program CDex for audio conversions. Having
explored this program for the last few days myself, I fully agree with Aman.
CDex is very accessible for screen readers from the menu or if you prefer it
has many shortcuts as well. You can get it from:
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net ;
CDex help is tedious to use with a screen reader. Fortunately there is an
excellent tutorial from a blind perspective at:
http://www.blind-corners.com/CDex.htm
I was looking for a while for a program which is free, accessible, feature
rich and can generate a playlist automatically during conversion; CDex does
it all.
SpeakOn can play music files and play lists placed under its Music directory
in its library. With CDex this process can be automated with a simple
configuration which needs to be done only once; actual conversion takes only
minutes.
How to use CDex in conjunction with SpeakOn is explained in the SpeakOn
manual at:
http://www.a-technic.net/SpeakOn/docs/SpeakOn/ht/SpeakOn-r-0071.htm
Regards
Isaac
