[bcab] Re: SpeakOn new features release 1.4 - usability improvements

Hello Dj Paddy

In reply to your question:

SpeakOn is written in Java. I use an installer called AdvancedInstaller.
http://www.advancedinstaller.com/java.html
This installer is optimized for Java in a number of ways. So for example it
checks for the Java runtime required version and if not present on the
user's machine, it downloads it for installation automatically. This is why
when you install SpeakOn for the first time it may take a bit longer (10
minutes or so). Once the runtime is installed, an update of SpeakOn should
take with a 0.5 Mbps broadband about 3 minutes or so.

On another point not related to your question, I would recommend new users
to take some time to read the Tutorial section of the manual as this speeds
up learning SpeakOn significantly. Experienced SpeakOn users would also
benefit from reading some parts of the tutorial as there are important new
features in this version.

You are always welcome to contact me directly if you have specific questions
or suggestions at:
speakon@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Regards
Isaac

*red face*

I didnt' readthe screen properly it seems it downloads applications as it
needs them and I'd some server items running which of course slowed the
connection down.

Quite a clever thing.
