Hi Kevin

if you go into volume control under accessories, and then go to advanced
controls for microphone.  There is a 20db microphone boost check box.  Try
turning it on and see what that does.  Another thing you can try doing is
have a look at your audio settings in tools and options in skype.  You can
have skype set your audio for you.  Alt plus t for tools, then p for
options.  See which you prefer.  Remember to use your down arrow key when in
the options until you get to audio, tab across to allow skype to  let skype
adjust my audio settings.  Don't forget to save your changes before coming
out of options.

I wonder if anyone can help with this one.

I've just set up Skype on my home laptop.  I've created an account and have
used the Echo123 test number to make sure that everything is working as it
should.  I can certainly hear myself, but the mic level is very low.  My
laptop uses a Realtek onbourd sound card.  When I plug the mic jack into the
line in socket, the Realtek software asks me if I want to use line in or mic
in.  As far as I can tell, I'm selecting the mic in option and pressing ok.
I've also gone int to the Sounds and Audio option from Control Panel and
increased the mic recording level.

There has to be something obvious I'm missing here.  What else should I be
checking?  Any thoughts gratefully received.
