Hi Eleanor,
 
JawsKey+5 on the top row should read the foreground and background colours but 
you will need to switch to the Jaws cursor first.
 
There is also a scheme in the speech and sounds manager which will speak these 
colours but this might be overkill.

I recently received a spreadsheet with some cells highlighted in red and yellow 
and couldn't find a JAWS 6.2 keystroke to tell me which they were.  Can anyone 
help?
