[bcab] Re: Re Open Office

Thanks Graham, its a pity Jaws has lagged behind here, this would have saved
many people some money as the Open Office is free.

Hi Bernard, haven't seen any replies to this. I am only speaking from vague
memories of recent discussions on this. As I remember it, Open Office is
written in Java which makes it difficult/almost impossible for screen readers,
but System Access is the best at present. I know people are working on its
accessibility, and of course the screenreaders keep developing. I believe
Window Eyes has a very recently developed script which gives better access to
Java than the Java Bridge. As to Jaws - I don't know, but don't think it is
workable.

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me if they have tried out the Open Office version 3.+ software
with Jaws, and if so, how successful was it? In general, is Open Office worth
trying out as a blind user?
