[bcab] Re: Re ActiveX control.

hi Christopher. I'd update the software manually if I were you. That would
mean at least
(hopefully) being able to keep backup copies of the installation files.

Also, an activex control can be considerably more than a pop-up, more like a
web-installed program.
So disabling pop-up blocker may not be enough. You could try going into
tools menu, options in I
E, then going to the security tab. Then hitting the "custom level" button.
You will then be in a
list view where there are options for Activex.

Set "automatic prompting for activex controls" to ENABLED.
Set "download signed activex controls" to ON.
Set "download unsigned activex controls" to PROMPT.
Set "initialize activex controls not marked as safe" to PROMPT.
Set "run activex controls and plug-ins" to ENABLE.
Set "script activex controls marked safe for scripting", to PROMPT.

This should hopefully sort out the problem you've described.

However, firstly these exact settings only apply to internet explorer 6, I gave
up on I E 7 in
favour of firefox. Secondly as per normal, be careful where you go surfing
with the activex
security levels turned down.

Hope this is helful info & that you're able to resolve the problem.
