[bcab] Re: Qualilife

From a Dragon perspective shame 7.1 is more than 2 years out of date.

Hi Tim I had not heard of this company before and their product range looks
interesting. I went to the site and have actually downloaded and installed a
30 day demo of "Qualiweb Pro", a speaking web browser application which they
report as being accessible to people with low vision or who are blind.

LINK:
http://63.135.104.16/content_db/download/QWP_Setup.exe

The demo works okay (circa 4 Mb) although limited to Microsoft SAM. It gave
access to all the major browser functions and is reading web pages okay. I
very much doubt though that anyone with an existing screen reader would be
interested in this product at £240 when all it does is web browsing.
Possibly it's strongest feature is compatibility with voice recognition. Quote
"QualiWEB Pro is fully compatible with Voice Recognition Systems like Microsoft
Speech Recognition 6.1 (coming soon) and Scansoft Dragon Naturally Speaking
7.1. " Combined with TTS output this could possibly good VIVO. But as a
screen reader I'd say it's probably surpassed by Thunder, which is £240 cheaper
and reads far more applications.

I also notice there is a UK distributor "One New Walk" based in Sevenoaks,
Kent. The whole product range is new to me and initial impressions are,
perhaps a good range for products for people with multiple disabilities, and an
impressive accessible and well organised web site.

I'm passing this info on to Dennis van der Heijden at www.axistive.com

Many thanks.

Leon Gilbert.

Tim - reading around the product details they are very much targeted at
those with motor impairments which given features like auto scanning may
well mean they are not good for screenreader users. I may of course be
wrong though.

Hi Again All,

Has anyone come across products from Qualilife
(http://www.qualilife.com/ <http://www.qualilife.com/> )? They make
some pretty impressive claims:

"We provide full accessibility to all existing technologies in all
fields, like: Telephony, Environmental control, Verbal and Written
communication, Internet,

fax, e-mail, SMS, DVD, Audio & Video, Virtual Reality, Business
Solutions, Web, Games, etc.", and having read the information on their
web site, I was surprised not to have heard of them before, and would be
interested in any views.

Regards,

Tim Pennick
