[bcab] Re: Prose 20 20 hardware speech synthesiser

Got the following via Google.

You may get a lead from the Smithsonian at:

http://americanhistory.si.edu/archives/speechsynthesis/ss_ts
i.htm

alternatively, and I'm not sure if it's from the same
stable, but Suntendy in the States have a software product
of that name.

ontent_speechplus.htm~maincontent

Both are longish URLs, so watch out for wrap.

Subject: [bcab] Prose 20 20 hardware speech synthesiser

Hi

I currently have a Prose 20 20 hardware speech synthesiser,
made by Speech Plus Inc sitting on my desk. The speech is
excellent, but I haven't used it for a very long time,
because of not having XP drivers for either Window-Eyes or
JAWS.

I wonder if anybody can help with the following questions:

1. The Prose 20 20 used to be manufactured by Speech Plus
Inc. It was taken over by another company. Does anybody
know who owns the Speech Plus technology now?
2. Are there XP drivers available for the Prose 20 20 to run
with either Window-Eyes or JAWS?
3. Is there a software version of the speech synthesiser
that can be purchased and that will work with screen
readers?

Thanks in advance.
