Hi Eleanor,
For settings to do with the task bar, go to your control panel and
choose task bar and start menu.
The first tab relates to settings for the task bar. Depending upon what
you require which is not exactly clear to me, there Is a number of
options to change the behaviour and display of the task bar.
Pressing f1 will give you a description of what the item having focus
will achieve. Pressing escape will exit this description.
Remember to click ok to exit the dialogue and save settings once you
have made all of the changes you need.

Yes of course it can be done. I have it on every other computer. I just
want the icons down beside the start button. Maybe task bar is not the
right name for what I want.

You can't Eleanor. This is however possible with Windows 7. Just

How do I do this please? I have the NC10 and I do not have any
programmes
on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes I like if I am in
a
Word document just to go down and open either of the said programmes
without
having to minamise the word document or to go through the Start Menu.#
