[bcab] Re: Pictures on the web

Karina,
I'm not at all sure, but something tells me that simply because Google has
catalogued all those images, that doesn't necessarily mean that you have any
right to use them. It might be wise to check with the original web site to find
out whether there are any restrictions on using materials from the site. Some
sites will disable context menus in an attempt to stop you.

I too have used images I have found in Google, and nobody has knocked the door
so far, but I suppose they could.

I've also been a bit bothered that an image from one of my sites ended up in
Google Images, which resulted in a lot of visitors who just wanted to download
the picture, which was a pain. I soon removed the picture in question, which
was actually a royalty-free one from a photo CD.

Vince.

Subject: [bcab] Pictures on the web

  Hi all,

I've succeeded in putting the first page of the website on the internet! I
will give out the web address when there is more on there, as at the moment
there is only a tiny amount, as it might be of use to some of you.

I realise that as well as making the website as accessible as possible, it is
important to make it visually impressive as well. I am thinking that maybe I
could put some pictures on there as there are not any at present. If I was to
search google for a suitable picture, and I found one that I felt was suitable
for the website, would it automatically be freely available for me to use on my
website or is this not possible? I've only recently started to investigate
google images so am fairly unfamiliar with them at the moment.

  Any help is much appreciated.

  Many thanks.

  Karina
