[bcab] Re: PDF to DAISY

Hi there,
Yes you're correct on this. We've just done some work with the Daisy Consortium and we had to convert all the raw format files made in word and latex into validated XHTML format to get them to be converted to Daisy. Could you get the original format for the pdf you have?

Cheers
Si.

Hi Karina. If they're untagged documents I presume you could save them as text files and then just convert those using whatever software tool does that sort of thing. Personally I haven't a clue! But are you sure they're readable in the first place? In my experience a lot of PDF documents generated in office environments are scanned images in which case you haven't a hope I don't think.

Subject: [bcab] PDF to DAISY

HI all,

I’ve got these two PDF files, please can someone advise me as to how I can convert them to DAISY so that I can read them on myBrailleNote PK? Step by step instructions would be much appreciated.

There’s also something else that I don’t understand – once I have converted a PDF file to DAISY format, how do I know how to navigate it as I’m aware that each DAISY book is navigated differently but I don’t know how you find out how to navigate it.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Karina
