[bcab] Re: PDF Files

Karina,

I thought it was possible to enter data into PDF forms using Reader if the
author had set the form up that way. However, I am not an expert on this.

One thing I would suggest is contacting the company and asking for an
accessible application form, which they have to provide. Don't use any
conversion programmes as they may alter the format of the document and your
application would stick out like a sore thumb when it is being read.

Cheers,

Derek Naysmith

Hello Karina

If you want to convert text documents into PDF files you could try ?Open
Office? it has the facility to convert all document created in ?Open Office?
into PDF files. Best of all it is free to use and download from the internet
from www.openoffice.com <http://www.openoffice.com/>

I found that I had to download ?Java Access Bridge? so that my copies of
JAWS ZoomText would talk to me but that is simple to do because the office
program has a link to the Java web site.

I hope this is helpful to you if you need any more info let me know.

Hi George,

Thanks for this. Where do I get Adobe Acrobat from, and not just Adobe
Reader, and wil Adobe Acrobat work with older versions of Windows,
preferrably Windows 98SE?

Many thanks.

Karina

Hi Tink,

If I'm not mistaken, you can't do this with Adobe Reader. You do require
Adobe Acrobat.

George.

Karina,

Yes, with PDF you can create forms that either require completing and
printing, or completing and submitting. In the latter case, they work in a
similar way to web forms, transmitting the data back to a central server.

Hi,

I'm currently job hunting. I've seen a job that I'm interested in applying
for and have downloaded the application form and job description and person
specification, all of which are in PDF files. It states that you can
complete the application form electronically, but I'm a bit confused,
because I thought that the purpose of adobe PDF files are so that they
cannot be ammended or changed in any way. Is this the case, or can you fill
in forms in the form of a PDF document?

Many thanks in anticipation for any assistance that you can give, I look
forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Karina
