I don't think messages can be downloaded to OE without it being opened.
Therefore, I think that there must be some setting in Outlook that is
stopping the messages from being downloaded to Outlook and, when you open
OE, they are then free to download. This might also be stopping the missing
emails and, having not been delivered, the server might have stopped trying
to send them. I'm sorry, but this is all guessing and I've no idea what
setting might be amiss in Outlook.

Thank you Barry,
I have been blissfully unaware that emails were going into the OE. I use
Outlook and so it never occurred to me to check OE. There were 384 unread
emails waiting for me! I was surprised to say the least, however, the
emails I am in need of were not there either, any thoughts? Retracing my
steps all emails into OE stopped in May at the same time as the hard drive
problem and subsequent security change (from Norton to Centre). I am
receiving emails to those contacts made since May, with the exception of my
daily paper emails and some journals.

There are two things you can do. The obvious one is not to run OE. Still,
if you do need to run OE, you can stop emails coming in by going into
tools/options/general and unchecking the *Check for emails every*.

Hi,
Can somebody tell me how I stop emails from coming into Express and send
them to Outlook?
I am also missing other emails, we have changed our security some months ago
(May) and it would appear that some emails are not arriving. My dilemma is:
in order to put contacts on the safe list I must first receive them!
Thanks in anticipation.
