Hi Kerry,
Control panel / folder options and control+tab to the file associations
tab.
Here you will find a list of extensions in alphabetical order. You will
need to hit the page down key quite a few times to reach the list of
extensions starting with t then locate the txt extension, tab to the
change button and press enter. Locate the list of applications to
associate and highlight Microsoft Word. Note that it is Microsoft Word
not winword. Ensure that the always use box is ticked then tab to ok
and press enter. Ok your way out of the outer dialogues and you should
have made the change you wanted.

Subject: [bcab] Opening Text Files with MS Word
Hi. Wondering if someone can help with this. I'm trying to make
Microsoft Word the default application for opening text files but it
isn't listed in either the recommended or other programs list box. I
can browse for it and locate the winword.exe file but as soon as I click
open I am placed back in the list of files and winword.exe isn't there.
I'm running xp home and office 2003.
Cheers.
Kerry
