Hello all,
please see below. This is for information only, so whilst you may wish
to take action on it privately, please remember that this is not the
forum in which to enter into discussion about the rights and wrongs of
shared streets/shared surfaces/shared spaces.
Thanks,
Clive

MessageHello all,
I am not sure whether or not the message below my signature contravenes
the rules of this group, but I know many of you have more than a passing
interest in the subject. The action sounds simple, though I haven't
tried it myself yet. That is planned for later.
Cheers for now,
Colin.

Subject: Take action on Shared Surfaces in just two minutes
Hi,
Would you be able to circulate this email round to as many members of
your groups and forums as possible. The more people who hear about this
the better.
Send this letter saying 'No to shared streets'
All you have to do is click on the link below and type in your name,
address, postcode and email address and it will write the letter for
you, address it to your MP and then all you have to do is press the send
button. It's that simple and takes just two minutes of your time. Try
it. You can even edit the letter if you wish and add in your own
information and experiences.
Click on the link below and email your MP today with the letter

In the letter we are asking MP's to sign EDM 496 'saying no to shared
streets and asking your MP to write to Geoff Hoon, the Secretary of
State for Transport asking for a moratorium on shared surface street
designs until the research has been completed by the Department for
Transport, taking a precautionary approach.
Though Guide Dogs are leading this campaign, we are doing this with the
support of 24 disability organisations like Leonard Cheshire, RNIB,
RNID, Mencap, Sense and many more. Click on the link below to see who
else is supporting the campaign
http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/sharedstreets/index.php?id=204 It is only
by working together that we are able to make an impact on government, so
every letter makes a very real difference.
all the best
David
