[bcab] Re: Off Topic? Inspiring films

Hi Robyn. Why not take a look at all the films in history (well the majority
of them) which portray
blindness/VI in any form and then take your pick. Simply go to, for Major
films (films which
generally focus on blind/VI)

http://www.disabilityfilms.co.uk/blind1/b1dex.htm

Or for Minor films (those in which the visually impaired play only a minor role
or are used for
comedy, thriller, horror purposes)

http://www.disabilityfilms.co.uk/blind2/b2dex.htm

The site notes that "in most films the character is blind rather than having
impaired vision. Film
makers appear to have a problem representing the majority of those registered
as blind who have some
vision rather than a total loss. And then there is the like of Mr. Magoo who
have some vision and
is a figure of fun."

I've found this site very useful for research. Maybe go for the day of the
triffids? *grin*

Subject: [bcab] Off Topic? Inspiring films

Hi,

My employers have suddenly discovered diversity and equality, and they want
to raise the awaremess of disability in the company.

Our US colleagues had a pizza and film evening. The film was 'Murder Ball'
- apparently about a wheelchair rugby team.

They would like to do the same here in London, and are looking for an inspiring,
but entertaining, film to show. The best suggestion so far is 'Ray'. Anyone
got any ideas?

Thanks,

Robyn
