[bcab] Re: Off Topic? Inspiring films

Not your call, Robyn, I know, but why is it beholden on us to be
inspiring? The problem with Inspiring is that it's usually based on
heroic stereotypes which, by and large, are the creation of or from the
imaginations of people who aren't disabled. They largely don't exist in
reality and they therefore serve only to reinforce and perpetuate those
unreal stereotypes. I guess Ray wouldn't be bad although it rather
sanitises his drugs and his lechery.

Subject: [bcab] Off Topic? Inspiring films

Hi,

My employers have suddenly discovered diversity and equality, and they
want to raise the awaremess of disability in the company.

Our US colleagues had a pizza and film evening. The film was 'Murder
Ball'
- apparently about a wheelchair rugby team.

They would like to do the same here in London, and are looking for an
inspiring, but entertaining, film to show. The best suggestion so far
is 'Ray'. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Robyn
