Richard,

I'd say stay away from 2007.  I've had it little over 2 months and still can't 
quite crack it.  I find I'm hitting google daily to find out what to do.  You 
need to really get to know the shortcuts once you have 2007 as the menu bar is 
far from helpful.

Others may disagree, however, I use office relentlessly and have found 2007 has 
really slowed my productivity.  This may be due to getting used to new software 
but 2 months for an updated package seems excessive to me.
