Recently I was writing some text which I want to include in an e-mail next
month, so I decided to use Notepad. When I tried to read the whole file
back using JAWS 6, I discovered that the first line was read over and over
again, and I had to read using the cursor keys instead of the say all
command.
Examining the file more closely, I found that at the beginning of each line
there must be some kind of sign. JAWS just says blank, and before that is
the last space on the previous line.
I have also found that magazines sent by RNIB on e-mail, which can be opened
as text files using Notepad, often have the same problem. You suddenly hear
a line being repeated, and you have to cursor down to get any further.
Can anyone tell me what Notepad does to a file to create these blanks. I
can't find anything in its limited menus to turn this feature off, and it is
very annoying. Is there any way of stripping the blanks out so that text
can be read in its entirety?
Wendy
